A Growing Community
In 1991, Dr. William E. Adams moved with his wife and four children to the greater Toronto area to start Vaughan Baptist Church. After meeting in temporary locations for several years, the church was able to purchase a historic church building. By God’s grace, the church grew steadily; and in 2005, a beautiful 350-seat auditorium was constructed. Pastor Adams had always had a vision of beginning a Christian school as a ministry of the church. Church families patiently waited for the school to start, many of them choosing to home school in the meantime. In 2011, the leadership of the church believed that the timing was right to prepare for the school’s opening. Through a church vote, the new school ministry was approved, and Daniel Bousquet was chosen as administrator. In January 2013, a BIMI missionary construction team renovated the old church auditorium, transforming it into a one-room education centre with designated learning areas for each grade level. That September, the academy began its first school year with five elementary students and received its BSID from the Ministry of Education, becoming registered as a non-inspected private school.
Through God’s grace and goodness, Vaughan Baptist Church purchased the property located next door to the church and took possession of it in August 2015. With an enrolment of 14 students, the school ministry relocated to that building for the 2015-2016 school year and has used that facility ever since. For the 2019-2020 school year, we look forward to offering grades 1-12 as we continue to train students for the Saviour.
